Superstar Surya and director Hari's third combo film Singam was a superhit at the Box Office. Following this success, the movie was remade in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and a few Indian languages. This super-hit hat-trick jodi is back with a sequel to the film and their latest offering Singam 2 is more racy, promising and entertaining than its prequel. The director has employed double dose of every commercial element to make it a mass masala potboiler. Singam 2 is a romantic action movie with double dose of each commercial element to appeal to all Class of the audiences. Surya's electrifying performance is the main highlight in it. Hari's interesting story, racy narration and hard-hitting dialogues, Devi Sri Prasad's music and background score, Priyan's beautiful picturisation, Vivek-Santhnam's rib tickling comedy, wonderfully choreographed action, stunt and dance sequences, beautiful locales and art work are other big attractions of the film. Lengthy screenplay, routine stuff and poor characterisation of villain are some of its major drawbacks. In the climax of Singam, Duraisingam decides to resign for his post of police officer and goes back to his village after ending big-time extortionist Mayil Vaaganam's mafia dealings. But seeing his courage and smartness, the Home Minister assigns him a new duty of unearthing the weapon smuggling. The story of Singam 2 begins here. Set in Thoothukudi, this sequel features Duraisingam going undercover to find out the international don behind these alleged activities. Following the home Minister's order, Duraisingam (Surya) starts working as an NCC teacher at a school in Thoothukudi. After uncovering a dangerous criminal network, he sets up 'Operation D' to nab international drug dealer. How he traps him will form the crux of the story, which is a treat to watch on screen.

I have been ignored in Singam 2: Anushka Shetty

Singam 2 has got immense response for its teasers online, and audience are expecting to see Anushka and Hansika sparkling on screen. But the Singam lead lady Anushka expressed her unhappiness towards Singam team, a month before. Anushka claimed that she has been ignored in Singam 2. Anushka and Surya were paired in the lead role of 2010 blockbuster Singam. It has been said that Anushka has equally contributed for the success of the movie. The on-screen chemistry of the pair was remarkable especially in the songs of Singam

In her interview to a news portal Anushka expressed her sadness for being in Singam 2, as she realised that she is a second heroine in the movie only after the movie was wrapped. “The Singam team has not used me properly, they gave me least importance, all they want me to give the connectivity for the sequel,” Anushka said. Reportedly, most of the scenes of Singam 2 were shot abroad, director Hari had to shorten her character, which resulted Hansika to be in the full length. However she didn't make any positive remarks about Hansika. Anushka also quoted in the interview, “Singam team has not used me properly. They got me in, just for the sentiment, as the first part was successful and wanted me in the second part too, as they thought, my luck might be behind the success of the first one.”
